Sounds Like San Diego: Aug. 26

Coming off a weekend with so much to do might feel like things have slowed down in town, but the fact is you only need one or two great shows to make a great night, and we still have more than a few to pick from. My bets are on the return of Leopold & His Fiction at the Casbah. The band -- and especially frontman Daniel James -- draw heavy from Detroit roots, which mixes influences of gritty rock and punk of the '70s with that Motown sound that is in the blood of all who hail from the Motor City. Joined by the Nervous Wreckords and Jimmy Ruelas, this is going to be a sweaty fun night to party. Meanwhile, the Brick By Brick is back in action, and, tonight especially, the venue returns to its reputation as the place for hard rock, metal, punk and other variations of face melters with a Corrosion of Conformity show. Deluka headline Soda Bar, American Rust takes the Tower Bar, and El Consumption owns the Tin Can.
