Sometimes I get asked how I can stay so enthusiastic about shows when I'm out seeing live music night after night. The truth is that sometimes there is definitely a little bit of a burnout, but there are worse ways to spend my time and I try to stay positive. Then there are shows like Bowerbirds and Dry the River tonight at the Casbah that make me so excited and remind me that any show-fatugue will dissipate as soon as the bands hit the stage. Bowerbirds haven't been here in a while, and Dry the River might be catching a new wave of British folky pop made mainstream by the success of Mumford & Sons, but I say bring it on: If a band or a whole movement can capitalize on such a pleasing sound and do it well with enough originality to be fresh, well, that is music to my ears.
