Sounds Like San Diego: April 30

Much like the Father John Misty show of a few weeks ago, I have been waiting for Thursday's show with the Decemberists since the day it was announced. I absolutely love the band, and with some health issues affecting them, it was unclear after their last roll through town if they would be able to tour again or if they'd splinter off. Of course, this show has long been sold out, but I wanted to highlight that if you do have tickets, you do not want to miss Lucius. The Berklee-educated ladies are amazing talents and haven't been to San Diego since their sold-out Casbah show in February of last year. If you didn't snag tickets, fret not, because there are still other great shows around. At the Casbah, you can catch William Doyle, who records music as East India Youth and is garnering buzz all over the indie-webs. Joined by Kathryn Calder of the New Pornographers, this is a great chill way to spend your night. Meanwhile, the Bright Light Social Hour and Talk In Tongues join forces at the Hideout, Soda Bar gets sludgy with Inter Arma, and my dear friend Matt Strachota brings his project, Trailduster, for a night of free music at Sycamore Den.
