In high school, I convinced my parents to host a foreign exchange student. Somehow we got stuck with this total jerk of a kid who didn't meet any of the program qualifications except that his uncle ran the program. He was from Sao Paolo and Sepultura were the pride of his hometown. My friends would antagonize him by declaring Slayer was better and he would fight back with Sepultura. He didn't even complete the program and was nearly kicked out of our high school, but I kinda have to give it to him: Sepultura sure has endured. Tonight, they headline the first night of Fronterizo Fest in Tijuana, and a metal fest at Caliente Stadium sounds like an amazing time to me. If you haven't updated your passport lately and are looking for music on this side of the border, there are still a handful of tickets for legend Art Garfunkel at Balboa Theatre; our friends in Warsaw and the Strawberry Moons play Bar Pink; and Marc Broussard plays a show at Symphony Hall.
