Hey, San Diego: Ready to paint the town pink?
Our free SoundDiego LIVE party series makes a return to Bar Pink on Friday, March 30, with SoundDiego's own Alysha Nett hosting three great musical acts, our famous Belching Beaver Brewery craft-beer happy hour and more!
For our 58th party (whoa--time flies!), we're headed back to the North Park hotspot because it’s one of our favorite clubs in town. Not only do we have a great musical lineup for you to enjoy, we’ve got happy-hour freebies for those who RSVP, too!
There’s something about Bar Pink’s throwback decor (and drink prices) that always puts us in the party mood -- and who better than Alysha Nett to host the festivities? You may have heard of her: The model-social media superstar boasts nearly 2 million followers on Instagram and she’s kind of a big deal. Ever wanted to be in the presence of greatness and get a selfie taken with a true “influencer”? Now’s your chance.
Of course, our parties wouldn’t be complete without some excellent bands, and for this one, we think you’ll be impressed. (It’s OK to pat yourself on the back now and then, right?) Drum roll, please: For our headliner, we’ve tapped none other than the Aquadolls!
Fronted by the inimitable Melissa Brooks, the Burger Records-signed group specializes in breezy, near-doo wop pop with a SoCal punk vibe. The last time they were in town, they sold out the Irenic and it was simply amazeballs. Do. Not. Miss.
In addition to that headlining action, we've tapped hometown alt-rock group the Heavy Guilt for main support. The five-piece officially reunited a few months ago after a multi-year hiatus and just released their latest studio album, "Spectral Hearts," via the local Redwoods Music label (which is up for Artist of the Year at the 2018 San Diego Music Awards -- the Heavy Guilt are up for Best Indie/Alternative band).
If those two bands weren't enough, we've also booked another one of our favorite locals: Jason Hanna & the Bullfighters (Hanna is a San Diego Music Award nominees in his own right). Hanna has described their music as "space-age pop based on the Tijuana Brass. It's a mix of jet-set swing, '60s garage rock, surf rock and Latin bossa nova exotica." You had us at space-age pop, buddy.
And last, but definitely not least, we’ve got one more surprise up our sleeve: After the bands have finished up, DJ Al Howard (who also moonlights in the Heavy Guilt and all those Redwoods Music bands) will kick off the after-party with some tasty tunes on the decks. Boom.
Our craft-beer happy hour starts at 8 p.m., so be sure to show up early for some Belching Beaver brews! Remember: You've got to RSVP to partake in the sudsy freebies, so get on it!
