Schizophonics Announce New Album, Tour

The local trio -- one of the greatest live bands in existence -- hits the road this fall in support of a new album

If there's one San Diego band that deserves to be seen on more stages across the country, it's most definitely the Schizophonics. Luckily, concert-goers will get that chance this fall. The local bombastic, high-flying garage-rock trio is set to slam venues across the country on a just-announced tour that takes them from LA to NYC and everywhere in between.

Oh, and they're dropping their sophomore full-length album, "People in the Sky," while they're at it.

There are few more explosive (and hard-working) live bands in existence right now -- and if you've never seen frontman Pat Beers doing the splits and shimmying across a stage while wildly playing guitar with one hand, well, you haven't truly lived. It also doesn't hurt that he's got one of the best drummers in town (we made it official here), Lety Beers, behind him on the kit.

The upcoming October-November trek follows an Aug. 24 hometown date at the Casbah and a September performance at Montreal's Fuzztival.

It also coincides nicely with the aforementioned new studio album, which is due out on Oct. 31. Recorded with Dave Gardner (Hot Snakes, Rocket From the Crypt) and mixing engineer Stephen Kaye (JD McPherson, Mike Krol), the band put their raw, beastly live sound to tape for a 12-track effort due out via Pig Baby Records. Limited-edition pre-orders are available now right here.

Check out the band's new single, "Battle Line," off the new record now -- and go see 'em at one of the tour dates below.
