If you've ever found yourself in a conversation with a blowhard going on and on about some nonsense and thought to yourself, I don't know what this weirdo's talking about, then rapper Saviorself understands.
On his latest single "Heads Are Talkin,” he dismisses the mindless chatter and shallow noise with his slow, well-paced flow. It's an exercise in confidence, where he downplays text messages from an old ex and sidesteps a nosey busybody who's lurking on one of his social media pages -- all with one simple line, "I don't know what you talkin' 'bout."
He's in no rush, gliding over Mainframe bleeps and a cresting synth line, as he rolls through the streets of National City in a grey Volkswagen GTI: "We can talk about some moves / We can talk about some money / We can talk about politics or talk s— and get funny / We can talk about that time I told you show some respect / Or we can talk about the time your bitch-ass homie got checked."
Whatever the conversation, he never breaks a sweat. Behind high-end sunglasses, he channels wise-guy cool in what looks like a speakeasy -- indifferent to a quartet of long-haired beauties rotating around him and Prayers frontman, Leafar Seyer.
There are other cameos, too, like the kitchen staff at Pokez who rattle off lyrics while taking orders and cooking food. Even San Diego rap legend Damu makes an appearance mouthing the song's chorus on top of the Basement bridge.
It's a solid single with a sticky hook, that finds the eternally effortless Saviorself calm and collected while shutting down the small talk, "styling and rocking out".
