SD Music Thing Hosts Artist Development Workshop

San Diego Music Foundation's free San Diego Music Thing artist development workshop takes place on Saturday, Nov. 2

There are more obstacles to artist empowerment and education in the music industry than there should be, which is why workshops like San Diego Music Foundation's San Diego Music Thing 90 Minute Conference are so important.

The free artist development workshop will take place at Recreational Music Center (2950 Truxton Road) within Liberty Station on Saturday, Nov. 2, from 1-2:30 p.m., and panelists will include Springboard West's Barry Coffing and industry veteran Michael Messina.

Coffing represents more than 16,000 record labels and publishers for film and television licensing, and he's been signed to Warner Bros. Records (as an artist) and Universal Music Publishing and EMI (as a songwriter). Messina has managed world tours and worked with artists from Dave Grohl to Josh Homme and more.

The expert duo will be covering everything from getting your songs in film and television to what labels are looking for today. So, if you're an aspiring local artist looking to expand your music career by getting sync placements and make money while touring, this could be a very important hour and a half for you.

San Diego Music Foundation's San Diego Music Thing 90 Minute Conference takes place at Recreational Music Center on Saturday, Nov. 2, from 1-2:30 p.m. Tickets are free and are available here.
