San Diegans Honor San Diegans At Rock Hall

Musicians with San Diego connections will be on hand for this year's Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony

Music superstars with San Diego connections will be on hand in April when the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inducts the Class of 2013 in Los Angeles.

In a Seattle reunion, former San Diegan Mike McCready of Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains' Jerry Cantrell will perform with 2013 inductees Heart, whose core members, Ann and Nancy Wilson, are the daughters of a U.S. Marine -- Ann was born in San Diego, in fact. Soundgarden's Chris Cornell will induct the band at Nokia Theatre L.A.

Usher, Carole King, John Fogerty, Spike Lee, Harry Belafonte and others have been added to the list of performers and presenters for the ceremony on April 18. Randy Newman, Public Enemy and Rush will also perform when Donna Summer, Albert King, Quincy Jones and Lou Adler are inducted.

As part of a longstanding tradition, artists perform in honor and in tandem with the artists being inducted. This year, Usher is performing for Jones. Fogerty and Jackson Browne will perform with Newman. King will perform for Adler, and Cheech & Chong will induct Adler, their former manager, while Lee and Belafonte will pay tribute to Public Enemy, who were in San Diego earlier this year when the 2013 induction announcement was made. In addition, Canadian rockers Rush will be inducted by Foo Fighters Dave Grohl and Taylor Hawkins, and Summer will honored by dueling divas, Christina Aguilera and Jennifer Hudson.

According to the hall of fame’s website, the show is sold out -- other than V.I.P. packages -- but fans will be able to see the festivities on May 18 on HBO.
