I really look forward to checking out other DJs and events when I don’t have to play music myself. This is one of those weekends for me and there’s so much to choose from. Make sure to pace yourselves, as the St. Patrick’s Day festivities might make your Monday morning a little challenging.
On Friday, one of my favorite nights, F--king in the Bushes, happens at the Whistle Stop. DJ Rob Moran and crew spin the best in Brit pop and it’s a nonstop dance party. At The Ivy Nightclub, check out DJ Donald Glaude. Plus, there’s lots of live music around San Diego on this night. At Soda Bar, you can check out the New Kinetics, the Paragraphs, Recordable Colors and Ed Ghost Tucker. The Styletones are at Bar Pink and that’s always a great time. Plus, House of Blues has Marlon Asher & the Farmers with Fortunate Youth, Rian Basillo & the Roosters, Stranger, the Simpkin Projects and Tribe of Kings.
Saturday, spend your afternoon and early evening at El Camino, as Lovelife presents Dark Side of the Sun with Noir, Maxxi Soundsystem, Jon Dadon and Mikey Lion. This day party goes from noon until 7 p.m. and you can get more details here. Later that night, check out Neon Beat with the best and worst of the ‘80s at Bar Pink. The Whistle Stop has ‘80s vs. ‘90s with DJs Gabe Vega and Saul. MayStar is celebrating her birthday at Diamond Dust with DJs Shane Baker, Chuy Fresno, Tigh and Volz and you can get more details here. On the live music tip, Dead Feather Moon, Brothers Weiss and Mrs. Henry hit Soda Bar. Plus, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe plays at the Belly Up.
For St. Patrick’s Day, check out the Shamrock block party in the Gaslamp with Young Dubliners, Mixmaster Mike and Drop the Lime. At the Hard Rock Hotel, it’s LA Riots headlining the day party, Wintervention. And at Voyeur, you can groove to Aeroplane and Cassian. Don’t forget to wear your green unless you want to get pinched!
