You Must Whip It

As we leap into March, it hasn’t been a fun week for me. After going to urgent care last weekend, I was diagnosed with acute bronchitis and a major upper respiratory infection. As if that weren’t enough, I also got laryngitis for the first time in my life -- not such a good thing in my line of work. Needless to say, I haven’t done anything this week, but I’m finally going to make it out of the house on Friday, and I’m looking forward to hanging with friends. In the meantime, the weekend starts on Thursday and here are a few things to check out.

“Get Wipped” with electronic music maker Wippenberg as he graces the Fluxx stage. Plus, Cowboy Mike, Dipsia and Scott Roberts round out the lineup. Get info via this link. There's more fun downtown at Voyeur with ARIA Award-nominated Tommy Trash. Since bursting onto the scene, this Australian dance-music kid living it up in London Town has dominated sales charts and dance floors alike with over 45 originals and remixes. No Body will do opening honors so get there early and check out details here.

On Friday, the Plasmapool Tour makes its way to San Diego for an 18-and-up show with headliner Mord Fustang at House Of Blues. Miles Dyson, Hypster, Joe Garston and Virtu will also be appearing, and you can get a taste of what you’re in for here. At Voyeur, it’s LA Riots with Brazzabelle. Get on the no-cover-before-10:30-p.m. list here.

Saturday is Club Ascension at the Kava Lounge. This monthly event features the best in dark underground dance music with hosts Tom King and yours truly, plus special guest DJs Shermz and Liquid Grey. Ana Chronism will be vending her lovely steampunk-inspired jewelry and accessories, plus a HexRx CD Release Party will be going on. More details via this link.
