You wanted the best, you got the best -- a month full of shows handpicked for you! The first few days are kind of slow, but then we get back into the swing of it, so take a look and plan accordingly. Happy 2017!

Jan. 4: The Devil Makes Three at Observatory North Park. Everything that makes Americana great!

Jan. 5: Voodoo Glow Skulls, Buck-O-Nine and the Porkers at the Casbah. A night of Ska ...

Jan. 6: TV Girl, Lanterns and Poppet at Soda Bar. A couple of former San Diegan's return to their former stomping ground.

Jan. 7: Fu Manchu at the Casbah. Stoner rock -- it's legal now.

Jan. 8: David Bowie Birthday Celebration with Bowiephonics, Ariel Levine performing Black Star, DJs Claire, Mr Mazee and Little Robert at the Casbah. Celebrate a legend!

Jan. 9: Creature Canyon, Modern Me and Almost Monday at Casbah. Support local music, and yes, I booked it!

Jan. 10: Dawes at Belly Up. An evening with Dawes.

Jan. 11: Dorothy and the Georgia Flood at the Casbah. A rock band on the Roc Nation label? Seems strangely appropriate.

Jan. 12: Luke Wade at the Casbah. He was on The Voice as a contestant.

Jan. 13: The Little Richards, Alice Bag Band and the Widows at the Casbah. Seems like the place to be on Friday the 13th. Jason is going ...

Jan. 14: Midge Ure Band and Warsaw at the Casbah. Visage, Thin Lizzy, Ultravox and Band Aid are just a few of his associations. This man is an icon.

Jan. 15: Lucinda Williams at the Belly Up. Real American rock, folk and blues.

Jan. 16: Captain Auzmo, Garden Echo and Cochinas Locas at the Casbah. Support local music, and yes, I booked this one as well.

Jan. 17: Jovi and the Issues, Hocus and Kitty Plague at the Casbah. Same comment as above ...

Jan. 18: Tower of Power at the Belly Up. Creating their own brand of R&B, funk and soul since 1968.

Jan. 19: Zakk Sabbath and the Shrine at Brick by Brick. Metal legend Zakk Wylde comes to town.

Jan. 20: SoundDiego LIVE at the Casbah with Schizophonics plus Dani Bell & the Tarantist. I am your host, so RSVP here.

Jan. 21: The Raveonettes and Gateway Drugs at the Music Box. Danish indie rock band returns to SD as requested by a certain San Diegan for the last several years, and you can buy tickets this time.

Jan. 22: The Toasters and Unsteady at the Casbah. Another night of Ska in our town!

Jan. 23: Jesse Malin and Schizophonics at the Casbah. D Generation frontman gone solo.

Jan. 24: Neutral Milk Hotel Tribute. Live tribute hosted by Jeremiah BZ of the Silent Comedy at Blonde Bar. Local musicians playing Neutral Milk Hotel -- yes please.

Jan. 25: Seratones at the Casbah. Rock 'n' Roll from Louisiana on Fat Possum Records.

Jan. 26: Orgy, Powerman 5000, Death Valley High and Knee High Fox at Brick by Brick. A step back into the late '90s ...

Jan. 27: Ty Segall at the Belly Up. This dude is prolific, so don't miss it!

Jan. 28: July Talk and Mona at Soda Bar. A night of rock with a band from Toronto and one based in Nashville. What's high in the middle and round on the ends?

Jan. 29: 91x Loudspeaker and Karl Strauss present Well Well Well, AJ Froman and Boostive at the Casbah. A new concert series from the people behind 91x Loudspeaker and Karl Strauss.

Jan. 30: Run the Jewels at Observatory North Park.  You can download the group's latest album for FREE.

Jan. 31: Communist Daughter, Cardinal Moon and the Lulls at Soda Bar. A band from Minnesota that takes their name from a Neutral Milk Hotel song and some amazing locals.
