The Man Show

Portugal. The Man will headline the latest installment of Bring on the Bright Lights at 4th & B on May 5.

Hailing from Portland, Ore., the oddly named Portugal. The Man have been putting out an album every year like clockwork since 2006. Their most recent full-length, In the Mountain in the Cloud, was released in July.

The four-piece's pristine melodies and anthemic compositions recall bands as varied as the Beatles and the Polyphonic Spree. If Portugal. The Man can channel even half of the jubilant energy from their recordings into their live act, you won't want to miss the May 5 show.

Anacortes, Wash., band the Lonely Forest will open for Portugal the Man. (Any similarity to the boat-loving the Lonely Island appears to be purely coincidental.) Like the headliners, the Lonely Forest are from the Northwest -- Anacortes, Wash. to be precise. The four-piece released its most recent album, Arrows, last year.

The Portugal. The Man show is the latest in the Bring on the Bright Lights concert series that began last year. Other Bright Lights acts have included Cut Copy, Nada Surf, the Soft Pack, Washed Out, Midnight Magic, Cuckoo Chaos, Republic of Letters, and Mutemath.

The folks at Bright Lights haven't announced who will play their next event yet, but if their previous choices are any indication, it's bound to be a great one. Tickets for the May 5 event can be purchased here.
