Friday, Tokyo Police Club headline at the Belly Up with Geographer and Said the Whale; Tribal Seeds with Collie Buddz, Tribal Theory and more hit the Open Air Theatre at SDSU; Grandpa Drew’s Flim Flam Revue takes over the Casbah, featuring Matthew Strachota (Long and the Short of It, Bartenders Bible), Gary Hankins (Scarlet Symphony), Creature and the Woods (Shelbi of Midnight Pine) and more; the Lovebirds Breakup Shmakeup Album release party is at Swedenborg Hall with special guest Steve Poltz; the Amandas and DJ Claire are at the Whistle Stop; Shaolin Signal & Zombie Barbie play at the Ken Club; Wild Beast with Chess Wars and Glenn Thomas Band are at the Merrow; the debut CD Release party for local up-and-coming death metal band Eukaryst is at Soda Bar; and Hip Hop vs. Punk Rock takes over the Tower Bar.
 
There are daytime shenanigans Saturday at the Hotel Palomar rooftop pool with DJ T. (Get Physical), Doc Martin, Paluka, Chris Herrera, Adam Salter, Kanye Asada and more, with the afterparty at El Dorado. Club Ascension at the Kava Lounge features DJs Dark Angel, Xian (Los Angeles Darkside) and yours truly spinning the best in dark underground dance music; and the Lightning in a Bottle San Diego Pre-Party is at Spin Nightclub. On the live-music tip, SHR Fest with Unwritten Law, Mickey Avalon, Sprung Monkey and more is at House of Blues; Dan Croll and Panama Wedding play a sold-out show at the Casbah; Japan’s noise rock duo 2UP -- with Batwings, Innerds and Tron -- is at Soda Bar; Noel Jordan is having his CD release party at the Tin Can, with live performances from the Palace Ballroom and Jason de la Torre; Say Say with Hills Like Elephants play at Bar Pink; and Prayers headline at the Shakedown.   
 
On Sunday, cool off with Intervention and the Size Matters Tour, featuring Max Vangeli, Third Party and Qulinez at the Hard Rock Hotel. Plus, the Lafayette Hotel pool parties are in full swing and you can check out Rip Carson and Roy Rapid & the Rhythm Rock Trio.
 
And just a head's up for Monday: Don’t miss Cinco de Mayo with Mariachi el Bronx, Creepxotica and Los Mysteriosos at the Belly Up.
