Pepper Kick Off Del Mar Fall Racing Season

The Del Mar Thoroughbred Club kicks off its Fall Racing Season on Nov. 10 with reggae-rock act Pepper

It's not officially autumn in San Diego until the Del Mar Racetrack kicks off its fall racing season -- and that time is now! The track's Fall Racing Season kicks off its Opening Weekend on Friday, Nov. 9, and runs through Monday, Nov. 12 (Veterans Day) with plenty of festivities -- but perhaps none more exciting than a concert with Pepper on Saturday, Nov. 10.

Shortly after the final race of the day, the beloved reggae-rock group will take the stage, and if you've never seen the band live, you're in for a treat -- especially since the show is free to all racetrack patrons who've entered the grounds before the final race starts (otherwise concert admission is $30).

Of course, there's a lot in store throughout Opening Weekend -- like tailgate parties, great thoroughbred racing action (naturally), a Taste of the Turf Club restaurant event with celebrated chef Brian Malarkey, and military discounts on Veterans Day -- so go visit Del Mar Racing's website for more information and tickets.

It's been a long, hot SoCal summer and honestly, we've been lucky to have the 2018 Del Mar Thoroughbred Club concert series help see us through it: From Slightly Stoopid to Ice Cube, and Aloe Blacc to Tribal Seeds, it's been heavy with some of the biggest reggae and hip-hop stars of our time.

But now it's time to take it easy, place some bets, and get irie with Pepper on Nov. 10, while looking ahead to country music star Easton Corbin's upcoming performance at the track on Saturday, Nov. 24. We'll see you there!

(Ed. note: The Del Mar Thoroughbred Club is an NBC sponsor)
