Lucky Fan Nabs 91x Coachella “Ticket Thief”

A lucky El Cajon resident asked the right question on Saturday to end 91x's Coachella ticket contest.

The local radio powerhouse started the ticket-giveaway promotion with a straight face in mid-March, even going so far as to issue a release about the "disappearance" of the tickets to the three-day music festival in Indio, Calif.

Soon after, noise-filtered messages started to air at the station, offering clues to the identify of the "ticket thief," sometimes including identifying physical characteristics and personal details.

On Saturday at the Tilted Kilt down by the ballpark, Adam M. of El Cajon asked SoundDiego executive producer Eric Page the right question: "Do you have 91x's Coachella tickets?"

Page, who had been sworn to secrecy by 91x staffers, told the excited teen he did, indeed, have what he was looking for. For his part, Page said he was glad it was over.

"Promotional game or not, I've been looking over my shoulder for two-plus weeks, and I'm just glad somebody's going to Coachella," Page said.
