Redwoods Take Root at Liberty Station Concerts

Two of the four concerts will feature Redwoods artists Rebecca Jade and Birdy Bardot

In just about a week, Liberty Station's free outdoor concert series will kick off with the Six String Society and continue on into September with Vaud & the Villains.

The first iteration proved to be a big hit last year with four danceable outdoor concerts on the grassy North Promenade of the increasingly vibrant and bustling Point Loma Arts District.

According to Arts District Program Manager Andrew Waltz, “We wanted to include local bands with roots in San Diego and that have helped build a vibrant culture here. The concert series highlights regionally known groups that are setting the bar for San Diego’s music scene.”

One of those local acts is the Redwoods Revue, a record label and music collective with some of San Diego's best neo-soul, psych-folk and desert rock bands on its roster, including featured noir-pop songstress Birdy Bardot who headlines on Sunday, Aug. 26.

Another Redwoods artist making an appearance at Liberty Station Concerts is Rebecca Jade, who will open on Sunday, July 22, for two-time Grammy Award-nominated artist Earl Thomas.

The family-friendly series, which is being co-produced by Damian DeRobbio of Beer, Food & Music, kicks off at 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 24, at Arts District Liberty Station's North Promenade (2848 Dewey Road). The grassy venue is located between Stone Brewing World Bistro and the eye-catching "Greetings" mural. You can't miss it.
