Kendrick Lamar, SZA Lead Top Dawg Tour to SD

TDE: The Championship Tour comes to Mattress Firm Amphitheatre on Sunday, May 13

Damn. Kendrick Lamar and SZA lead Top Dawg Entertainment's (TDE) first ever full label tour starting Friday, May 4. TDE: The Championship Tour, which will also feature Schoolboy Q, Jay Rock, Ab-Soul, Sir and Lance Skiiiwalker, will make its way to Chula Vista's Mattress Firm Amphitheatre on Sunday, May 13.

TDE has more than lived up to its name with both Lamar's seven-time Grammy-nominated  album "Damn" and also SZA’s five-time Grammy-nominated debut album "Ctrl." "Damn" topped just about every best of 2017 list, from Rolling Stone to Pitchfork, earning a near perfect 9.2 score from the latter.

The last time Lamar played a big show here was at 2013's Sun God Festival at UCSD, so we are more than overdue for some of his vibe.

Looking into the new year, TDE CEO Anthony Tiffith will curate and produce Marvel Studios’ Black Panther soundtrack alongside Lamar. The label also just dropped Sir’s debut album “November," after the success of his collaboration with Schoolboy Q on “Something Foreign.”

With a roster like that, if you do make it out to Mattress Firm on May 13 for The Championship Tour, you don't have to sit down, but you should definitely be humble.

Tickets go on sale to the general public starting Friday, Jan. 26, at 12 p.m. at Ticketmaster.com, while American Express card members can purchase pre-sales on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at 10 a.m.
