"Reset your preset," because two major San Diego radio stations have officially swapped frequencies.
At 9 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 16, a merger between Entercom Communications and CBS Radio became final, which affected San Diego radio stations previously run by CBS, like KyXy 96.5, Energy 103.7 and KSON (formerly on 97.3).
As a result of the merger, Energy -- known for spinning the best (and worst) of the Top 40 -- has taken over 97.3 and KSON -- San Diego's home for "new country" -- has taken over 103.7.
KSON is now legally obligated to stop broadcasting on 92.1 in North County under the terms of the merger agreement, and starting early Monday morning, Bieber, the Chainsmokers and more will be bumping from KSON's longtime home on the radio dial.
According to KSON's blog announcement, it's just a good ol' fashioned switcheroo designed "to put the stations you love on signals that hit the areas of San Diego where those stations are most popular to provide the best listener experience!"
And judging by Energy's Twitter feed, they're pretty excited about the change as well.

Looks like the merger and frequency swap might actually strengthen San Diego's radio game.
