Hello, Adele, It's San Diego

Adele's tour announcement leaves San Diego off the list

On Monday, America’s English sweetheart announced a massive North American tour for 2016, with 56 dates scheduled between July and November. She’s got six dates -- six! -- at the Staples Center in Los Angeles in August, the most in any city besides New York (where she’s doing another six-night stand). Hello, Adele, can you hear us? We must have called a thousand times.

But homegirl ain’t home.

Because Los Angeles is the closest she’s getting to America’s Finest City. Sticking mostly to major markets like Toronto, Chicago and the like, Adele has a one-off scheduled in Oakland but is otherwise playing shows in sets for her first North American tour in five years. The tour, of course, follows the November release of “25,” which settled comfortably into No. 1 ranking in more than 100 countries immediately, selling more than 3 million copies in just one week.

Maybe it was too much to hope for an appearance here in San Diego. After all, we did get her in 2011, when she played SDSU Open Air Theatre. And who knows, maybe she’ll go the route of the Rolling Stones and Red Hot Chili Peppers and play a show for rich people only at Belly Up! There's always hope. Regardless, tickets for all stops on Adele's tour go on sale Thursday, Dec. 17, at 10 a.m. local time and are available here.

In other snub news, AC/DC -- who announced their 2016 North American tour the same day as Adele -- are bypassing California all together. Coachella (where the band headlined in April) must have left the dudes thunderstruck.
