As we kick off 2014, hopefully you’ve saved up enough energy to get out and enjoy some great shows and DJ events in San Diego over the next few days.
Friday at the Casbah it’s the Paladins, Big Sandy and His Flyrite Boys and the Bedbreakers. Pato Banton hits the Belly Up, Darks of Heaven and Prayers are at the Ken Club, the Amandas live with DJ Claire at the Whistle Stop, Hip Hop vs. Punk Rock is at the Tower Bar, and Dropset lays down the beats at Bang Bang.
On Saturday, join me for Club Ascension at the Kava Lounge. DJs Michael, Bloodsport and yours truly will be playing the best in dark underground dance music. Plus, ticket giveaways for VNV Nation and Skinny Puppy throughout the night. Grab more details here. Another fun event on my radar is the Dragons, the Creepy Creeps, Phantoms and Black Hondo as part of the 25th Anniversary of the Casbah this month. At Soda Bar, Brooklyn afro beat scenesters Zongo Junction headline, Reel Big Fish is at House of Blues, and Neveready plays at The Griffin.
Sunday features Califone and Little White Teeth at Soda Bar, and the El Vez Punk Rock Revue, Schitzophonics and Diana Death play at the Casbah.
