Floored By Dance Options

When it comes to out-of-town DJs spinning in San Diego, the next few days will not disappoint.

There’s a little something for everyone, starting Thursday night with Treasure Fingers (aka Ashley Jones) at Voyeur. This Atlanta native has dominated the disco house scene for the past several years with his blend of funky, fresh jams. Signed to Fool's Gold Records, he is known for producing great tracks and remixes, but it's his own mixes that have taken him to another level. Check out Treasure Fingers' most recent mix via this link and get ready for a packed dance floor Thursday night. Also on the bill is Congorock (Italy) and the Brooklyn-based DJ/producer Kingdom. Another event happening downtown is at Fluxx, where Mix Master Mike of Beastie Boys fame will be appearing, along with Hyena, Jamuel Saxon and DJ Leif. Take a look at the party last time Mix Master Mike hit Fluxx Live. On the other side of town, it's the second annual Fetish Ball, brought to you by Pacers, where I'll be spinning tunes with Diskdroid and Liquid Grey. For more info, go here.

Friday, it's Feel the Noise at U-31 with THE SLPWLKRS live. After five years of mixing rock with electronica, former members of Buddy Akai recently formed the Slpwlkrs. They describe themselves as a psychedelic rock journey through the dark corridors of our minds. I've heard great things about this live act, so cruise by and check it out if you can. DJs Gabe Vega, Mike Delgado and Saul Q round out this night of dancing. For more details, check out this link. At Brick By Brick, I'll be providing the tunes between bands during the Hanzel und Gretyl/Genitorurers show.

Saturday, it's Club Sabbat at the Flame in Hillcrest. I'll be hosting San Diego's classiest gothic, industrial and fetish event that has been going on for almost 13 years. DJs Drew Harlander and Liquid Grey will be doing it up in the main room, with Tom King keeping things old school in the back. Plus, Nightmare Hides will be showcasing their wares. If I wasn't attending that I would definitely be checking out the bass-thumping party with F---- Offf and Deth Hertz (Los Angeles) at Voyeur or the Groundfloor Mix CD-release party at El Dorado with Gabe Vega and French Kiss Collective.

For more Thursday through Saturday shenanigans, check out my blog. Look out, weekend! There's lots of fun to be had. See you on the dance floor!

Robin Roth is a familiar voice in the San Diego scene.  She is on the air weekdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on 91X, plus she promotes and spins all over town, and when she comes up for a breath of air, she also manages the Tragic Tantrum.  For more info about upcoming gigs, check out her event blog.
