San Diego's intimate SxSW is back Jan. 10-12, 2019, with Springboard West Music Festival's Band Bootcamp, Band & Brew Crawl and more at various venues in Ocean Beach.
For the third consecutive year, the festival will showcase emerging artists from around the world as industry elite and the musically curious gather for conferences and concerts spanning all three days.
On Jan. 10, a two-day Band Bootcamp will host 50 (out of 3,000 submissions) hand-selected artists for workshops, panels and pitch sessions with mentors like former Guns N' Roses manager Vicky Hamilton, award-winning producer Dale Penner and casting directors from "American Idol," "The Voice" and "The Four."
The climax of the festival will be the Jan. 12 Band & Brew Crawl, which is open to the public (for $20) and features all 50 of those artists performing at Winston’s, OB Theatre, the Harp, Mother’s Saloon and OB Brewery.
“All of the mentors and industry experts are donating their time to give back to the next generation of independent artists,” Springboard Music Festival founder Barry Coffing said in a press release. “I am so excited to see how our impact on the lives of everyone involved has grown, mine included.”
All proceeds from the festival will go to local nonprofits like Autism Tree Project Foundation, Pioneer Day School and Sustainable Artists, which helps artists create a balance between artistic focus and economic reality.
