The Del Mar Thoroughbred Club (DMTC) just announced their 2014 summer concert series on Monday morning -- and it's a doozy. The scenic track situated near the beach will be hosting some of music's most iconic and in-demand artists on the planet, come July and August.
Their blockbuster concert season kicks off in prime fashion with the unique, alternative hip-hop of Jurassic 5 on July 18. Always an instant sell-out scenario in San Diego, classic goth rockers the Cult are slated to take the stage on July 25.
August holds much more in store as summer hits full swing. Making a return appearance this year, are alternative rock demigods Weezer (of "Beverly Hills" and "Buddy Holly" fame), who take over the track on Aug. 2. Roots reggae legends Steel Pulse get the positive vibes flowing on Aug. 8, while Adam Duritz and Co. bring hits like "Mr. Jones" and "Round Here" to life when Counting Crows swoop in the very next night, Aug. 9. Magic!, a red-hot reggae fusion band, will be making the trek from their hometown of Ontario, Canada all the way to San Diego to perform on Aug. 15.
The DMTC closes out the lineup with a bang, as EDM icon Steve Aoki has been tapped to bring one of the most epic dance parties ever to the track on Aug. 29 -- while reggae superstar Ziggy Marley will have everyone feelin' alright come Aug. 31.
As of right now, "Special Guests" are listed for Aug. 1 and Aug. 22. While we can only speculate who will be filling out those nights, if the rest of the lineup is any indication, they'll most likely be booked with huge performers.
The concerts take place after the last races of the day and are always free for patrons of the track. Otherwise, tickets are $20, if attending after the last race has occurred. For more information, please visit here
