DJ Dishes Up Weekend Dance Picks

Summertime is officially here! Has it already been a couple of years since Voyeur graced us with its presence and forever changed the face of downtown nightlife? Thursday night, L.E.D. presents Voyeur’s 2 Year Anniversary Party, with a very special guest. Everyone has been speculating that it will be Paul McCartney’s favorite Coachella 2011 DJ, but mum's the word on this one. It will surely be a party not to be missed.

My pick for Friday night is hanging at U-31 for Feel the Noise, with DJs Gabe Vega, Saul Q and Pleasure Victim. Gabe Vega is one of my favorite local spinsters, and he just came out with a new mix that is available for download here. It’s a great set of tunes just in time for your summer pool party, your drive up the coast or getting ready for a night out on the town. Get more info about Friday’s event via this link

Saturday is the Fleetwood/Surfrider Summer Block Party in the East Village just outside the Fleetwood, where we held SoundDiego LIVE last month. The fun starts at noon and goes all the way till 10 p.m. There will be plenty of DJs to keep you moving, including Rock-It! Scientists, a Bay area DJ duo made up of DJ Guzie and DJ Solarz. Others who will be spinning include Who, featuring Paul De Rosa, Devoy, Theron, Los Drumz and Chris Clouse. Ticket info is here.

Also early on Saturday, celebrate eight years of monthly happy hour sets at the Whistle Stop with DJ Claire and special guest DJ Sam Chammas. The action starts at 5 p.m. and the MIHO Gastrotruck will be parked out front serving up their amazing farm-to-table street food till 7:30pm. Plus, its bartender Dennis’ birthday so come and join in on the fun. Check out more details here.

On Sunday, nurse that hangover while you join me for Resurrection Brunch at West Coast Tavern in North Park. My favorite thing besides the brunch food unlike any other: the bloody mary bar. I’ve never seen anything quite like it. Whatever you could possibly imagine putting in that concoction is there on the table of goodies. From bacon to fresh garlic to green beans, it’s all there for you. So, ease up on the tomato or V8 so you can get all the various ingredients into your glass. I’ll be spinning ‘80s and ’90 music starting at noon, so join me for the fun. Check out this link to get more info.

There is so much other goodness happening in between  -- details are available via my blog. I’ll see you on the dance floor with a side of bacon.
