Just a Hint of Oakenfold

My birthday happens to fall on a Monday this year so I’ll be celebrating all weekend long, starting onThursday night by checking out the EDM action at Fluxx. One of my favorite female DJs, Ayla Simone, is opening up for Paul Oakenfold. Digital Life and Josh Silver will also be spinning throughout the night, so get there early and support some of San Diego’s finest as they open for one of the best trance/house DJs in the world. For more details, go here

Friday, plan on making at least one of these three events: You know me -- I’ll try and do them all. My friend Nicolasa is debuting a brand-new monthly night at the Kava Lounge called Club Metro. DJs Liquid Grey and GooGooMuck will be spinning during this β€˜80s New Wave dance party, and it sounds like it’s going to be so much fun. More info here.

Over at U-31, check out Religion (Dim Mak/LA) with Funk the Fresh (LA) and resident DJ Gabe Vega. More details via this link. The Miamication Tour hits Voyeur on Friday, featuring Cedric Gervais, plus an opening set by Zen Freeman. Check out info here.

Saturday night, don your favorite dark attire and join me for Club Sabbat at the Flame in Hillcrest. I’ve picked three of my favorite DJs for the birthday shenanigans: John C, one of the resident DJs at Bar Sinister, will be coming down from Los Angeles to spin. Ladynoir will join him in the main room, and Tom King of Soil fame will keep things old school in the back room. Kelly Formaldehyde will be merchandising on the back stage. More info about the night via this link.

Thursday through Saturday events are listed on my blog. Spankings are most certainly allowed when you see me on the dance floor this weekend.

Robin Roth is a familiar voice in the San Diego scene. She is on the air weekdays from 10am to 2pm on 91X, plus she promotes and spins all over town.  For more info about upcoming gigs, check out her event blog. Follow Robin on Twitter @robin_roth or submit your DJ listings here.
