Longtime 91X radio fixture and club DJ Robin Roth joins SoundDiego this week as a regular contributor -- Ed.
Hope you’re having a good weekend. Lots of DJ events going on Saturday and Sunday for you to enjoy. Whether you're into the dark underground genre of music or more of a house/techno lover, there's something for everyone. Plus, an opportunity for you to donate toys to a worthy cause -- after all, 'tis the season. Here are a few highlights. Enjoy!
Saturday night, it's Club Ascension at the Kava Lounge. Tom King and I have been hosting and DJing at this monthly night for more than four years, playing everything from darkwave to synth/future pop to EBM. The venue has got a special style all its own, and we really look forward to doing this every first Saturday of the month. Special guest DJ Franck H-Bomb from Das Bunker in Los Angeles will be there this weekend. Last time he spun at Ascension, it was an amazing night. Don't miss it this time around. GVA will be on hand, collecting new unwrapped items to be donated to Toys for Tots. Give what you can and help those who can't afford gifts for the kids this holiday season.
To round out your weekend, check out Josh Wink Sunday night at Voyeur. A pioneering DJ since the early '90s, Wink's style is a mixture of techno, house, drum-and-bass and experimental, to name just a few. He has done remixes for Moby, Paul Oakenfold, Depeche Mode, Ladytron and many other artists. Josh Wink has worked really hard to get to where he is. If you’ve never seen him live before, don't miss this opportunity at such a great venue.
