DJ IDeaL Feels the EDM Pulse

Here's a look ahead to the best upcoming EDM shows hitting the clubs in America's Finest City

Sexy costumes and a super extended seven-day weekend of Halloween events aren't holding San Diego back from dancing up a storm in November -- especially with all of the turkey we’re anticipating. In similar fashion, we've been anticipating the arrival of Carl Craig ever since the show was announced by Soul Work. The legendary techno icon made his way to San Diego on Friday, Nov. 9, at an undisclosed location, setting the tone for the quality of dance parties to expect in the coming weeks.

As we head over to Pacific Beach, the crew at West Coast Radio invites you to their kickback on Saturday, Nov. 10, with Don Santino and a special back-to-back set by Miguel Rios & Pete T at El Pueblo. Enjoy a margarita and some tacos on the deck with plenty of house music to enjoy the sunshine. After the kickback, hop or scooter on down to the border of Little Italy and the Gaslamp to enjoy a rocking set by the Crystal Method. Celebrating the recent release of “The Trip Home” and accompanied by Zee and Britton, the Music Box will be going off! After a week of rest, Deorro makes his way back to Omnia San Diego on Friday, Nov. 16. As a purveyor of many hits of his own (and behind the scenes), he's still one of my favorite guys to see perform, so bottle service or tickets from your friendly local ticket pusher are highly recommended.

Saturday, Nov. 17, will be quite the challenge for dance music lovers as progressive house and techno fans are treated to a three-way of sensational artists with John Digweed kicking things off at Hard Rock Hotel for a daytime party, followed by a very rare Plastician appearance with support from Dink, for which you’ll need to follow "The Deep End" to find the party's secret location. Giving you another reason to enjoy a San Diego Sunday Funday, Nora En Pure gives you a taste of what her residency has been like at Marquee. November is complete with a special edition of T is for Techno as they make their way back to Fluxx on Tuesday, Nov. 20. After successful anniversary and Halloween specialty shows, make some space for Thursday’s turkey by enjoying that Funktion one sound and dance floor with Alien Tom, Red Sonya and special guests.

The gathering of gatherings brings an elite lineup of Southern California’s DJs and producers to an undisclosed location presented by Enter the Tech on Saturday, Nov. 24. Featuring three different areas of house, techno, drum & bass bumping from 4:20 p.m. to 4:20 a.m., Cris Herrera, Oscar P, Matthew Brian, Joe Pea, myself DJ IDeaL, Jon E Thin, Bassmechanic, Rock the Discotek, Fester, Calculon, MK Ultra, Scooby and JS2 (Daemia x J. Splat) plus many many more will treat your ears to an ecstasy of sounds accompanied by visual explorations through an array of lighting productions taking you to another galaxy. Make sure to join us and grab your tickets here.

Closing out the month on Friday, Nov. 30, at Spin Nightclub is my sister from another mother, Tara Brooks. The talented DJ/producer reppin’ Listed, Desert Hearts, Kindisch and more has been setting the trail on fire as a leading artist of southern California, with plenty of tour dates around the globe, making her appearances in San Diego that much more special. Performing an extended set featuring plenty of her own productions, Christopher James takes on opening duties for Flatline and Staybad's late-night shindig.

As San Diego turns up the heat, there’s still plenty more events going down all month so keep an ear out through my Facebook page and tune in Friday and Saturday nights to my show In the Mixxx on Alt 949’s Glow San Diego on the Radio.com app!
