DJ IDeaL's Eerie EDM Events

Dance your way through Halloween with DJ IDeaL's best bets for bumping parties all month long

Kicking off the Halloween dress-up month (not weekend), San Diego is ready to keep the dancing going with plenty of fun leading up to the big celebration at the end of the month.

We start things off on Thursday, Oct. 4, as Techniche presents a special Black Out III at Rich's San Diego with local techno legend John E. Thin, as he continues pushing the sounds of the underground through its rebirth -- while the next night, the Genius Loci Fest family gathers and invites you to their first San Diego fundraiser of love. If you’ve yet to attend the musical and metaphysical experience known as Genius Loci, the homie Donald Thump gives it five thumbs up and highly recommends this event going down at Spin Nightclub featuring Henry Pope, Ben Seagren and many more.

For those looking for an alternative to the usual club or weekend event (even if you aren’t boarding the Hornblower Cruise's sold-out "craziest party on water"), the official Groove Cruise Pre-Party takes place on Oct. 9 with a special Tuesday night event featuring Chus & Ceballos at the San Diego Air & Space Museum in Balboa Park! Prepare for a night of fabulous house music plus access to the Max Flight interactive ride, Talon Racing simulators and 3-D/4-D theater entertainment included with your entry. All proceeds go to benefit the Whet Foundation nonprofit program!

A couple days later (Thursday, Oct. 11), a special event at Vin De Syrah goes off downtown featuring Toronto’s Kenny Glasgow, along with Jimbo James & Positive Language presented by Music Is 4 Lovers.

As the underground sounds bubble up, T Is 4 Techno celebrates the one-year anniversary of its weekly Tuesday night event on Thursday, Oct. 16, as organizers migrate to the Gaslamp’s Fluxx Nightclub for a special showcase. Residents Alien Tom and Red Sonya host a set of special guests pushing techno at its finest through the in-house Funktion One sound system.

Hitting you with another reason to stay out late on a Tuesday night, the Observatory North Park hosts the elusive Zhu with Tokimonsta as the special opening act on Oct. 22, while Chris Lake returns to San Diego after his debut Anti-Up performance (Chris Lake b2b Chris Lorenzo) at CRSSD Festival, with an intimate solo show at Spin Nightclub that'll go well into the morning hours.

On Saturday, Oct. 27, Hard Rock Hotel plans a special ghoul-filled evening by opening up multiple rooms featuring Oliver Heldens, Jadakiss, Juvenile, an Aitherios techno takeover featuring Lee Reynolds and Memo Rex, and much more! Get details here.

Also on Halloween night proper, the highlight event is Rufus Du Sol at the Valley View Casino Arena. These guys have been on fire going from festival to festival around the world and it’s definitely a show you won’t want to miss, no matter what you’re dressing up as!

Make sure to keep it safe and don’t forget to tune in to my radio show "In the Mixxx" on ALT949FM’s Glow Radio for its one-year anniversary month! We will be featuring some amazing artists including Hardwell, Armin Van Buuren, Daddy’s Groove, Elle Vee and more!
