Committed to Performing

Andrew Strong is an Irish singer best known for his work in the film The Commitments. Only 16 years old at the time the movie was shot, Strong played Deco Cuffe, a young kid with a mature, booming voice. The Commitments soundtrack sold more than 15 million albums worldwide, propelling Strong to international stardom. Since then, he has released multiple platinum (European) releases and has toured with Elton John, the Rolling Stones and Lenny Kravitz

Strong recently embarked on his first solo tour of North America, performing solo material, songs from The Commitments, and an arsenal of blues classics. I had the opportunity to catch up with the affable Strong before his appearance at Anthology.  We discussed coming of age -- "Next year it's gonna be 21 years [since The Commitments] ... and I don't feel like an adult yet" -- career longevity ("I'm doing something I enjoy, and I'm very fortunate") and his current tour: "I'm gonna throw in some Hendrix and Steppenwolf."
