Carla Morrison Tackles Taboos

Tecate's sweetest blues singer/guitarist, Carla Morrison, is basking in the music spotlight without compromise. The 26-year-old is set to compete on Nov. 15 at the Latin Grammys in four categories: Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Alternative Album and Best Alternative Song.

"By the grace of God I am so humbled, happy, and appreciative for this great life I have,” Morrison says. “To be nominated four times is something I could've never imagined! Thank you for recognizing the work of an independent artist. The honesty my team and I put into this is the root of everything."

Amongst her activism role in the #YoSoy132 musical movement, she has also taken a stab at the taboo of Latino gay marriages in her latest music video, “Eres Tú,” from the album Déjenme Llorar. Fellow musician from Mexico City Ximena Sariñana tweeted, “Beautiful, beautiful bellísimo is the new video by @CarlaMorrisonmx !! Ojito remi and the whole thing! Truly I congratulate, beautiful!! #erestu”

For Morrison, the “Eres Tú” video was a passion project to get old-fashioned Mexicans to start showing tolerance towards the homosexual community. You can view it below:
