Call to Bands: Perform at SD County Fair

The San Diego County Fair 2016 season begins June 3 -- and they're looking for bands to take the stage

You’re late! You’re late! For a very important date! No time to say hello, goodbye! You’re late, you’re late, you’re late!

JK. You’re not late -- yet. But applications to perform at the "Alice in Wonderland"-themed 2016 San Diego County Fair are officially open. So if you want to get all up on one of those eight stages and play to crowds clapping together hands greasy from fried foods, then it’s time for you to get all up on that application process.

First step, head to the Fair’s site to get the deets on this year’s sweat fest in Del Mar, like when it’s running (June 3-July 4). There you’ll find all the links you need to get started, like an FAQ page, booking steps and application overview.

Big name performers last year included Switchfoot, Peter Frampton and Cheap Trick, Gary Allan and Fifth Harmony, among a slew of others, and while this year's Grandstand schedule hasn't been announced yet, bets are that it's going to be another solid year -- because really, when has the Fair disappointed?

But if you want to get in on the small stage action, follow your band down the rabbit hole to make sure you hit the March 21 application deadline. Booking is first come, first serve, according to the steps outlined on the site. So don’t wait, or you really might be too late.
