Bang on the Drums at Voyeur

French DJ Sebastien Drums brings Ibiza to San Diego

It would be wise to pencil in a night out in downtown Friday if you’re looking for one of the hottest club nights of the month. French DJ Sebastien Drums is one of the most-touted electronic artists coming through town this June, and he’ll be playing at Voyeur on Fifth Avenue.

Sebastien Drums emerged out of the French electronic scene in the mid 2000s and finally blew up with his track “Funky Beat” in 2009 after landing residencies at a number of Europe’s top clubs and starting his own label, Work Machine. He brought some serious signees onto Work Machine, such as Afrojack and Thomas Gold, and big-time collaborations with other EDM all-stars were soon to follow.

His rework -- with superstar Avicii’s-- of the classic Cassius track “My Feelings for You” turned out to be one of the biggest smashes in dance music of 2010. Three years later, this young DJ is still drawing massive crowds around and world and bumping elbows with the who’s who of EDM.

This DJ set at Voyeur will have you more than covered for a taste of the European dance culture. Sebastien Drum's staple sound resonates in an upbeat territory bordering trance, house and techno. A close listen reveals traces of his self-proclaimed childhood heroes Daft Punk and Phunky Data.

Also coming up this month at Voyeur are appearances by Estonian electronica artist Mord Fustang and esteemed UK DJ Michael Woods on June 13 and June 28, respectively.

You can RSVP on Facebook before the Sebastien Durms event for guest-list consideration; the venue will begin charging a cover after 10:30 p.m. Just a reminder, this event is 21+.
