Friday, Russell Brand hits the Balboa Theatre for a sold-out show as part of The Messiah Complex Tour. My other live concert tip is the Dave Matthews Band with special guest Gary Clark Jr. at Sleep Train Amphitheatre. On the other side of the musical spectrum, punk band Weirdos headline at the Casbah. The Cud LIve Tour hits the Valley View Casino Center, featuring Kid Cudi, Tyler, the Creator and Logic. Grab info here. Summer rolls on with Adult Swim Saturday at Dive Dayclub, with DJ Spryte at Harrah’s Resort. On Saturday, it will be all laughs with the Comedy Explosion, as Will Ferrell hosts A Night of Comedy & Big Game Cats at the Civic Theatre. If you don’t have tickets for that -- word is that it’s sold out -- might I suggest seeing the Tree Ring, Sara Watkins (Nickle Creek) and Tiny Telephones at the Irenic. Later that night, join me at the Kava Lounge for Club Ascension. DJs Severin and Michael will round out the lineup, and we’ll be spinning the best in dark underground dance music.
