You Gotto Go, Bro

There's dozens of great musical options this weekend, including the Switchfoot Bro-Am in North County.

It’s the opening weekend of Over the Line, Pride in San Diego and plenty of events to spice up your life over the next few days.

This Friday, join me and celebrate the six-year anniversary of Pussy Galore at the Whistle Stop, with live performances by Duping the Public and Never Come Down (formerly Hargo). I’ll be DJing throughout the night with Terryn S. There's no cover; for more information, go here. Elsewhere: At the Casbah, its Dessa, Open Mike Eagle and Okapi Sun. The Heavy Guilt, Trouble in the Wind and Dirty Sirens play at Soda Bar. Cuckoo Chaos, Incan Abraham and Ed Ghost Tucker are at the Void, and the B-Side Players headline at the Griffin

The annual Pride Festival takes over Balboa Park this weekend. Warm up Friday night at the Pride of Hillcrest Block Party. The streets will be shut down for this 21-and-up event, with music and lots of dancing. You can get more details here

Can’t wait to walk in the Pride Parade on Saturday. I’ll be there with the fabulous 91x and hopefully rubbing elbows with grand marshals Brad and George Takei and La Toya Jackson. Thousands of spectators will line the route from University Avenue to Balboa Park via 6th Avenue. The parade starts at 11a.m. There are free parking lots with free shuttles, and you can grab more info via this link. The Pride Festival is Saturday and Sunday in Balboa Park and features art, food, craft vendors and of course, dance floors. Another big event happening Saturday is the ninth annual Switchfoot Bro-Am at Moonlight Beach in Encinitas. There’s also an after-party at the Belly Up hosted by Switchfoot with Fiction Family, Makua Rothman and Kelley James. Saturday night, check out an awesome local bill featuring Transfer, Blackout Party, Flaggs and the Palace Ballroom at the Casbah. You can get your ska on with Unsteady and Amalgamated at the Ken Club. At Voyeur, it’s David Heartbreak. You can get on the no-cover list before 10:30 p.m. here.

On Sunday, enjoy your fun in the sun with several different pool parties to choose from, including the 91s Summer Pool Party at the Lafayette Hotel, Intervention with Sultan & Ned Shepard at the Hard Rock Hotel, and the Remedy Pride Pool Party at the W Hotel.

Have a great weekend, and I’ll see you on the dance floor!
