Bad News for Weiner, Good News for California

It's fashionable to say that California has lost some of its economic muscle and cultural juice.

Anthony Weiner knows better.

The New York Congressman had to admit this week to inappropriate on-line relationships with multiple women. And this sex scandal on the other side of the country wouldn't have been possible without good-old California innovation.

Consider Twitter.

Weiner, considered a leading contender to be mayor of New York City someday, threw away all those hopes and dreams because he just couldn't help but send explicit pictures of himself using the technology of this San Francisco-based social networking company.

Twitter is just that fun to use.

And Weiner's behavior was exposed by Andrew Breitbart, the conservative blogger and entrepreneur best known for his Big Government site. Breitbart and his company are based in Los Angeles.

California companies chewed up this supposedly tough New York pol and spit him out.

So take a bow, California.

Weiner's political career may be dead -- but we're not.
