A First (Home) for Mark Zuckerberg

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg made a $7 million commitment to Silicon Valley -- by buying his first home. It's a five-bedroom, five-bath with a saltwater pool only 10 minutes from Facebook's new Menlo Park campus.

The home, which also has a "spacious porch" and sunroom, is a first for Zuckerberg, according to the San Jose Mercury News. The Facebook founder has been renting since his arrival in Silicon Valley in 2004. "So the new home, which includes five full baths, a spacious porch and glassed-in sunroom, would seem to represent a significant change in Zuckerberg's lifestyle. Set back and shielded from the street by a wall and trees, the new home certainly offers more privacy than Zuckerberg's current address," the Mercury News continued.

The new home may have been a security move for Zuckerberg, who had an alleged stalker show up outside of his home earlier this year.

But more than anything, the new home means that Zuckerberg is committing himself and Facebook to Silicon Valley. There's no word on whether or not his long-time girlfriend, Priscilla Chan, will be moving in with him, or if the home purchase means he will be taking their relationship to a new level.
