Obama (Sorta) Adds Birth Certificate to New Facebook Timeline

President Barack Obama converted from his old Facebook profile to the new Facebook Timeline and added an image of his controversial birth certificate.

The controversial birth certificate is emblazoned on a coffee mug and is a placeholder for "Born Aug. 4, 1961," the date Obama was born. Facebook's new timeline chronicles a person's life over time, starting from birth until present day. The president's staff, which administers his Facebook page, took a photo of a coffee mug with his birth certificate on it -- something his campaign sells for $20 as part of its "Made in the USA" inventory at the Barack Obama store:

There's really no way to make the birth certificate conspiracy completely go away, so we might as well laugh at it -- and make sure as many people as possible are in on the joke. Get your Made In The USA mug today.

While staffers thought the idea of a false birth certificate funny, others had different ideas. The attention-seeking and equally controversial Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio in Arizona announced he's investigating the authenticity of Obama's birth certificate.

"Based on all of the evidence presented and investigated, I cannot in good faith report to you that these documents are authentic,” Sheriff Arpaio said, according to the Washington Times. Arpaio said he did not accuse Obama of any crime.

It's almost been four years and either you believe the president is a citizen or not, but as this story shows -- it still means you can get some national exposure just by dredging up the controversy.
