Google Unveils Jelly Bean Sculpture

Google's Jelly Bean, the newest Android update, made its debut on the Google Mountain View campus -- at least in sculpture form.

Android Jelly Bean, or Android 4.1, joined giant sculptures of Android's previous incarnations: Gingerbread, Ice Cream Sandwich, Eclair and Froyo on the lawn of the search titan's campus -- and just before Google's developers conference, Google I/O, which starts today in San Francisco.

As we wrote earlier, a version of Jelly Bean was spotted on Google Play last week in a listing about the Galaxy Nexus. And many are anticipating that the new statue means that Jelly Bean will be released at the conference -- along with the new 7-inch Nexus tablet by Asus, rumored to be priced at $199 and powered with a quad-core processor.

Google has learned something from Apple's developers conferences, and it knows it has to have some exciting releases or launches to make its conference newsworthy. We think we will see at least two announcements, Jelly Bean and the Nexus tablet, but hope for a few more.
