‘Breaking Bad' Fans Sue Apple

"Breaking Bad" viewers take the series about a high school chemistry teacher turned meth dealer seriously. So seriously, that one Ohio man has filed a class-action suit against Apple for allegedly cheating fans out of eight episodes in a $21.99 HD or $13.99 standard definition season pass promotion, according to a report.

Noam Lazebnik said in a lawsuit filed Friday in San Jose, Calif. that Apple "engaged in false advertising" by providing only eight episodes of a 16-episode season, according to GigaOm. He claims he and other viewers are owed $22.99 or $14.99  for a "Season Pass" to the AMC program's final season which was split into two parts. Apple provided only eight episodes, or half of the season, rather than Lazebnik's expected 16.

“When a consumer buys a ticket to a football game, he does not have to leave at halftime. When a consumer buys an opera ticket, he does not get kicked out at intermission,” the suit alleges. The suit also claims that the last 16 episodes have consistently been referred to as "Season 5".

Apple hasn't commented on the suit, but so far at least one news outlet is calling it one of the "dumbest" Apple stories, according to AllThingsD -- which nonetheless wrote about it. It is likely that the iTunes deal wasn't crystal clear to users, but $13.99 for all 16 episodes seems like a bit of magical thinking, too.
