Dana Delany on Her New Show: Bring on the Cadavers!

It's a rare television actor who looks forward to the research part of playing a medical examiner on television.

But for Dana Delany, who is filming her medical examiner pilot for ABC, it's all about bringing out the bodies. She already made on morgue research visit with her pathologist technical adviser, but missed out on the fun stuff.

"I didn't get to see an autopsy," she moaned to PopcornBiz. "So I'm really looking forward to that next time. I love that kind of stuff."

Really?

"I love anything weird and medical and having to do with bodies," she says. "Then again, I might just be talking big now and then faint when I actually do it."

Delany promised to call afterwards to see if she made it through. Right now the Rhode Island based "Body of Evidence" is using dummies for their television bodies. But Delany can always dream.

She will play a brain surgeon who has a car accident and can no longer operate because her hand shakes. "So I have this great line, 'You can't kill someone who's already dead.'"

Quite a big step from her Wisteria Lane character. Delany will return to the "Desperate Housewives" set on April 7 for a "Child Hunger Ends Here" rally she is organizing. But the medical examiner pilot is her show if it gets picked up.
