Whether She Knows It Or Not, Jane Lynch Is Doing “SNL”

Jane Lynch was one key person not aware that some serious negotiations were going on between "Glee" creator Ryan Murphy and "Saturday Night Live" chief Lorne Michaels.

The fantastic end result of the bargaining was Murphy agreeing to let his "Glee" star do "Saturday Night Live." Great news!

Oh, and he let Lynch know via text.

“I said, ‘Lady, you’re doing 'Saturday Night Live,' ” Murphy told The Hollywood Reporter. “And she literally wrote back, ‘What are you talking about?’”

It turns out Ryan's discussions about giving Lynch the time off to do the famed comedy show had taken place apparently without Lynch getting a hint.

“'Saturday Night Live' called to say, ‘Would you give us Jane for a week in October?’” explained Murphy. “We just don’t do that, but for Lorne Michaels, I said yes.”

Now that Lynch knows, she can prepare herself. But even Lynch just showing up on the day of the show would be better than the majority of guests the famously uneven show throws up there (the unrelenting Betty White one recent and notable exception).

It's going to be must-watch television for all, including the cast of "Glee."

"I think we're all going to go to see her and support her," said Murphy.
