“Thor” to Feature Cameo by Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye

You won't have to wait until 2012 to get your first look at Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye. In fact his big-screen debut as the purple archer is just over four months away.

Renner's Hawkeye makes a brief appearance at the end of "Thor," a person whose seen an early cut of the film has revealed to The Wrap. Sounds like the same thing Marvel did with Samuel L. Jackson at the end of "Iron Man."

This confirmation at least puts to rest the confusion kicked off when Renner spoke out of turn in November 2009, telling Empire, “If I was a betting man, I would bet that Hawkeye would probably show up in 'Thor,' and then be in 'The Avengers'...But do I know for sure? I can’t say. But I’d love for that to happen. It’d be fun.”

This was said back before the Powers that Be in Hollywood could explain to Renner the fine art of discretion.

Just a month later, Renner corrected himself, telling Movieline, "That was just one of those things that got blown way out of proportion...You know what I mean? So there’s truth that we talked about it, but there’s no truth to me doing it."

You may now speak freely, Mr. Renner.

"Thor" hits theaters May 6, 2011, "The Avengers" arrives May 4, 2012.
