If “The Killing” Is On AMC, It Could Be Great

AMC has created two original series in their history: “Mad Men,” and “Breaking Bad.” Given that both shows are awesome, it’s time to sit up and take notice that they have a new show, "The Killing," in the pipeline.

So it’s on AMC and the word “Killing” is right in the title. Like I’m not watching that. From The Hollywood Reporter:

Billy Campbell ("Once and Again," "The 4400") is set to join the cast of the police drama, playing the role of Richmond.

"The Killing" is a Seattle-based mystery following the police investigation of the murder of a young girl, tying together three interlocking stories as investigators chase a variety of leads… The other key "Killing" lead role of Sarah has not yet been cast.

“The Killing” is based on a Danish series called “Forbrydelsen,” which thankfully had no involvement of any kind from Lars Von Trier. AMC’s site says the series, “is an exploration of Seattle politics; a unique portrayal of a victim's grieving family, and a study of the personal life of a cop.”

There are shades of “The Wire” in that idea, along with other season-long case shows like “Murder One” and “Damages.” Hard not to find that promising. “The Killing” starts filming something this spring.
