Last night, we got a sexy preview of new Mexican taqueria and tequila bar Viktor & Spoils in the Hotel on Rivington. Greeted by a wall of illuminated rainbow soda bottles, the single-room bar and lounge was perfectly full. Seated on the couches along the walls, we sipped on signature cocktails and enjoyed good conversation over an eclectic mix of music, ranging from 80s to Reggae. The furniture setup leaves ample space in the middle of the room for a dance party, which we're sure will be happening by 1AM every weekend once the tequila-based drinks kick in.
The highlight of the night? The Oaxacan Dream. Its' a delightful concoction of tequila, pineapple and cranberry juice (not the the bottled kind, as the dapper bartender kindly informed), and some other yummy ingredients. The best part of the cocktail is the surprisingly smoky flavor with every sip--subtle and perfect. As the newest addition to the bustling street, Viktor & Spoils got us saying, "uno mas, por favor!"
Get a taste of the Dream with the recipe below. Cheers!
