Weather Still Friendly for Cutca Firefighters

Significant changes on the way, some good - some bad

Firefighters battling the Cutca Fire on Palomar Mountain will feel a slight increase in temperatures today.  And, while humidity levels remain around 30% at least the wind is not expected to pick up much.

High temp on the fire front this afternoon should top out around 85 degrees after an overnight low around 60.  Winds start from the northwest, move around out of the southeast later today then switch to due easterly this evening after the sun sets.

With the onset of monsoonal moisture Wednesday afternoon the humidity soars and the men and women on the fire lines could get some help from mother nature in the form of showers or even some downpours brought about by thunderstorms.  On the downside, winds will also strengthen in the afternoon, out of the southwest 10-20 mph and the potential storms could mean fire-starting lightning strikes.

Only time will tell if the changing weather the next days is friend or foe for Cal Fire.
