What are surfers and body boarders to do during a torrential downpour?

How about take their boards to the hills?

That’s what local photographer Richard Wilson and friends did during Tuesday afternoon’s rain storms.

“Me and a few locals made a video around bodyboarding and surfing grass hill in Mira Mesa, making the best out of El Nino,” he said in an email.

The video shows Wilson and his friends sliding on the soaked hills in whimsical fashion.

Not everything was fun and games during the Tuesday rainstorm, however. The strong El Niño storms caused flooding and some damage in parts of San Diego County Tuesday and early Wednesday.

Those included flooding to a Mid-City apartment complex and the Fashion Valley Mall parking garage.

The heavy rains are expected to return on Wednesday afternoon.
