Flash Flood Warning Issued for San Diego

A flash flood warning was issued Tuesday afternoon for San Diego County according to the National Weather Service.

A severe thunderstorm warning was also in effect for South Central San Diego County with damage to trees and power lines possible.

A moisture surge brought scattered showers to San Diego County early Tuesday.

As of 1:27 p.m., Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms and heavy rain across central San Diego County.

Residents in Alpine, Barona Indian Reservation, Captain Grande Indian Reservation, Flinn Springs, Viejas Indian Reservation and Harbison Canyon are advised to seek higher ground.

Wind gusts between 45 and 60 mph were possible along with hail.

Communities in the San Diego desert and mountain regions are under a flash flood watch issued effective from Wednesday morning through Wednesday evening.

A watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding.

The communities included in the flash flood watch are Julian, Palm Springs, Pine Valley Borrego Springs and Big Bear Lake among others.
