A refurbished State Route 67 off-ramp in Santee will be unveiled Friday in time for the morning commute, the California Department of Transportation announced Thursday.

The final touches of the Prospect Ave. exit — located less than a mile southeast of Mission Gorge Rd. — will be completed Thursday night with crews shutting down the northbound Broadway Ave. and Bradley Ave. on-ramps at 8 p.m..

The new off-ramp will be functional by 5 a.m. and has been nearly two years in the making. The exit closed to traffic in Mar. 2009, according to Caltrans, with a temporary off-ramp set up a quarter mile further north at Graves Ave.

The construction is part of the Sunny Side Gateway project that will extend SR-52 between SR-67 and SR-125 and will cost $447 million, a Caltrans representative said.

Work is projected to complete in the spring.
