Feting Fashion and Dressing Up

Sassy sample sale, sweet summer dresses and unique antiques that you can wear.

FASHION FLOATS: Three times a year Sassy City Chicks hosts a Fashion Bash sample sale in San Diego. The next one takes place this Thursday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Float Rooftop Lounge in the Hard Rock Hotel. The event features pieces from designers such as Marc Jacobs, True Religion, Diane von Furstenberg and many others, with discounts of up to 80% off. Advanced 2 for 1 tickets can be purchased for $20 and include early entry, food and drink specials, complimentary spa services and a gift bag. If you aren't a planner, you can purchase general admission tickets for $3 at the door. Check the Sassy City Chicks website for more information.

BOLD SHIFT: Whether you're attending the Fashion Bash or simply looking for some fun new pieces, Kate Ross in North Park offers a variety of light dresses, tops, jeans and kicky shoes to go with them. The Theme Bold print dress ($69) has a black graphic print with swatches of sand and seafoam. It looks smart at work with pearls and a blazer and sassy at night with metallics and a smile. Online shopping is also available, but it's worth the short drive to check out their shop. Walk down the street to Heaven Sent Desserts for a sweet treat afterwards.

CUFF 'EM: Cuff bracelets are picking up steam as the accessory of summer and fall, and you can find basic versions of them in boutiques everywhere. San Diego artisan Serrelynda creates custom cuff bracelets using antiques, beads, belt buckles and other unique articles. The Lion Crest Cuff Bracelet ($42) features silver leaves, filigree and a crest taken from antique shoe clips, earrings and a button. The result is a wearable work of art with endless personality. Purchase it and others from her Etsy shop online.
